 Max is the City of Dryden’s official mascot. He stands proudly in the trees at the Tourist Information Centre along Highway #17. Max’s home is a popular spot with tourists and he has his picture taken by many visitors from around the world. Max was an idea of Mr. Elwin Palmer, a past president of the Chamber of Commerce. Max was born (built) in 1962 and celebrates his birthday officially July 19th. He is made of mesh, steel rods, concrete and a layer of lacquer - to protect him from the brutal Northern Ontario winters. Although Max is a quiet, friendly, and honest moose, has had his share of troubles, especially around Halloween. Max was even shot once, but he recovered and is in fine form today. Education: Institute of Moosology, "Herd of his Class" Volunteer Work: Mooseketeer leader; Mooster of ceremonies at the local antler club, Moose Court Judge. Likes: Having his picture taken by tourists; having his face appear on t-shirts & postcards; being single; birthdays; MuchMoosic. Dislikes: People who vandalize & litter; birds; forest fires; acid rain; mosquitoes. Hobbies: Mooseball; Rackball; Developing his mooscles; observing traffic; maintaining his physique & mystique. | |
